“We want to thank you SAFT (via Absa) for granting this loan as we were able to ensure that our employees had money in their accounts as other cleaning companies are not so fortunate. Many of our staff have phoned to say thank you as they are now able to buy bread for their families. This makes a big impact on people’s lives.” The SAFT loan has allowed Mila Services to remain open during this crisis and avoid the need to retrench staff. 

Despite cleaning services being classed as ‘Essential Services’, COVID-19 has had a negative effect on the business – Mila Services have experienced a drop-in turnover as many of their customers had to either scale down or close their business or some branches. “At any given time, about 20% of my staff is not working but most of them are not working the full hours as in the past. Some of the staff are now working one week on and week off. Therefore, the SAFT loan came to the rescue so that we could keep our staff.”

Mila Service’s experience with ABSA was very positive: “Your bankers understand the process and our experience was amazing. It was very easy to complete the end to end application process and it took less than a week for pay-out. The documents were not 25,000 pages and was easy to understand.”
